Yes, we live in Bizarro World folks. That’s about the only way you can describe it. People in this country have blinders on when it comes to certain people and the very people who railed about the shortcomings of Bush Jr (someone who I gave no great love for) now weep inconsolably over the death of a murderer.

They would have spent 40 years (or at least a portion of it) in prison - for manslaughter, for leaving the scene of an accident, for driving while intoxicated. The rules are different for the recipients of adoration from the Kult of Kennedy. Money and privilege mean there are a different set of standards and punishment doesn’t take the form it would for you and me.

The Lion of the Senate?

Better described as The Lying of the Senate because there is no question a man never did more to distance himself from his own behavior than Ted Kennedy did over the course of his lifetime.

He got forty years more than the woman he killed and even after avoiding being incarcerated for that misdeed the stories about his drunken escapades continued for another two decades.
